Appointments & New Patients

1. Do I need a referral to see a dentist?

No referral is required. You can book directly with Yokine Smiles Dental.

2. I’m a new patient — what happens at my first visit?

Your first visit usually includes a medical history review, an oral health assessment, and a discussion of any concerns. Imaging may be recommended only when clinically needed to support diagnosis and planning.

3. How often should I have a check-up?

It depends on your risk factors (gum health, decay risk, medical history, dry mouth, grinding). We recommend a recall schedule tailored to your needs — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Pain, Urgent Problems & Emergencies

1. I have a toothache — should I wait?

If pain is significant, worsening, or associated with swelling, it’s best to book promptly. Dental pain can indicate infection, cracks, or decay that may worsen without treatment. 

2. Do you offer emergency appointments?

We provide urgent dental assessments and will aim to see you as soon as possible based on availability and clinical urgency. Call us for guidance. 

3. What if I have swelling?

Swelling can indicate infection. Call us promptly. If swelling is rapidly spreading or you have difficulty breathing/swallowing, seek urgent medical care immediately. 

Treatment & Comfort

1. I’m nervous about dental treatment — can you help?

Yes. Let us know when booking. We can take a calm, paced approach, explain each step, offer breaks, and discuss comfort options including sedation where clinically appropriate.

2. Does treatment hurt?

We aim for gentle, comfortable care. Local anaesthetic is used where required, and we’ll explain what to expect before we begin. 

3. Do you offer Invisalign or braces?

We offer orthodontic assessments and can advise on clear aligners (such as Invisalign) and braces options depending on your needs and suitability. 

Fees, Health Funds & Payment Options

1. Do you accept health funds?

Yes — we accept all major health funds. We are also a preferred provider for HBF, nib and HCF. 

2. Do you offer payment plans?

Payment plan options may be available depending on the type of treatment and circumstances. Please discuss this with our team before treatment begins.

3. Do you accept CDBS and DVA?

Yes — we accept CDBS for eligible children and welcome eligible DVA patients. We also support eligible patients using MPDSS with the required authority forms (where applicable).

2. What are your opening hours?

Mon–Fri 8:30am–6:30pm | Sat 9:00am–4:00pm | Sun Closed. 

3. Do you accept CDBS and DVA?

Yes — we accept CDBS for eligible children and welcome eligible DVA patients. We also support eligible patients using MPDSS with the required authority forms (where applicable).
